چکیده
Abstract We investigate the role of small-scale dynamics in inducing large-scale transitions solar wind magnetic field by means dynamical system metrics based on instantaneous fractal dimensions. By looking at corresponding multiscale features, we observe a break average attractor dimension occurring crossover between inertial and kinetic/dissipative regime. Our analysis suggests that are induced through an inverse cascade mechanism driven local correlations, while electron contributions (if any) hidden instrumental noise.

Large-scale solar magnetic field mapping: I
This article focuses on mapping the Sun's large-scale magnetic fields. In particular, the model considers how photospheric fields evolve in time. Our solar field mapping method uses Netlogo's cellular automata software via algorithms to carry out the movement of magnetic field on the Sun via agents. This model's entities consist of two breeds: blue and red agents. The former carry a fixed amoun...
متن کاملHeliospheric evolution of solar wind small‐scale magnetic flux ropes
[1] We present results from the first comprehensive small‐scale flux rope survey between 0.3 and 5.5 AU using the Helios 1, Helios 2, IMP 8, Wind, ACE, and Ulysses spacecrafts to examine their occurrence rate, properties, and evolution. Small‐scale flux ropes are similar to magnetic clouds and can be modeled as a constant‐alpha, force‐free, cylindrically symmetric flux rope. They differ from ma...
متن کاملGeneration of Alfvén Waves by Small-Scale Magnetic Reconnection in Solar Spicules
Alfvén waves dissipation is an extensively studied mechanism for the coronal heating problem. These waves can be generated by magnetic reconnection and propagated along the reconnected field lines. Here, we study the generation of Alfvén waves at the presence of both steady flow and sheared magnetic field in the longitudinally density stratified of solar spicules. The initial flow is assumed to...
متن کاملScale-dependence of Magnetic Helicity in the Solar Wind
We determine the magnetic helicity, along with the magnetic energy, at high latitudes using data from the Ulysses mission. The data set spans the time period from 1993 to 1996. The basic assumption of the analysis is that the solar wind is homogeneous. Because the solar wind speed is high, we follow the approach first pioneered by Matthaeus et al. (1982, Phys. Rev. Lett. 48, 1256) by which, und...
